Men in BLUE.

Well, I guess you learned your lesson today morning. Yeah!! "YOU", because I learned the same lesson before (Indian cricket team can never make it in WC) when I was a kid. I was 11 and I was crazy about cricket. My favourite player was Ajay Jadeja. It’s the First Semi-Final between Srilanka VS India 1996 WC.

After my day at school’s over, I ran to a house nearby and asked for the score "Srilanka 60/4 (numbers am not sure but first three wickets were taken by srinath < 30 runs)" was the reply. Since I was with lot of hopes I couldn’t wait to get to home. I stuck on to the television without food or water. My intuition was, India will make it to the finals and azzu bhai will raise the CUP with a great honour (come on!!! I was just a kid.). But Lanka’ns played with determination and asusual Indians couldn’t control them(actually, ‘anything’) and they went all the way for 250. At break, had our dinner and we (me, bro,dad and two more dad’s friends) were back to watch the match.

First blow, Sidhu was out when the score was < 10. Then it seemed "OK" when tendu and manjrekar was playing. "Yeah !! they will make it. It’s just 250+. We have azzu bhai, jadeja, Kambli….. ", those were my thoughts. When tendulkar was out the score board showed it was 98.

Then it began the legendary "Indian cycle stand batting (ONLY indians can do it)", one by one they will come and they will go, can’t stay in the crease, can’t bat, can’t face neither a ball nor the bowler and yes!! "the great expression", as if they tried a lot but it was just a miracle that they got out (After all!! they are great at acting. Remember sachin’s latest ad  "aaaoooooooowwww!!! kya kaata yaar ??").

Anyway, I looked at the TV it’s 120/8, I couldn’t believe it, it’s just like a bad dream, but, there’s a hope still inside me. Bengali’s know what’s gonna happen and they stopped the match. I was mad at them for years but now I know why they did it. I was left heart-broken in the room alone, mad at every member of the team and on srilanka’ns.  You believe it or not, I didn’t watch cricket for the next 3 years. I absolutely had no idea about anything, like who’s the captain, who are the best players, what are sachin scores in the latest matches etc, etc… which I used to remember before.

Well, 1999 was another wonderful world-cup, thanks to the team for coming back at super six level. I felt nothing when they couldn’t make it to third round. Because, it’s fixed in my mind that our players are losers and they can never make it(bringing the world cup)come true.

2003 I gotto say, is the best world cup I have ever watched. I was in jail (read "hostel") and the only fun was that world cup. Ofcourse, final was yet another disaster but I made through it because disasters were not new for us. (Week end Eamcet model papers never made 130+ and every paper used to be a disaster, it’s nostalgic, hmmm )

2007 - the year with many lessons for me. When it comes to cricket it’s the routine boring lesson(don’t hope that india will win). I actually made a list of things that we can predict.

   1) If it’s important match … sachin makes < 10(for sure 99%, 1% for a miracle, ha ha I believe in GOD, afterall), legennnnnnnnndary "cycle stand batting" activates, the only chance is a newbie or some bowler bats well and brings home the victory and he’s the HERO for that match and for the rest of the season and expect him in many of the ADs while watchin movies and serials on TV. Ohh !!!  and sachin’s "surprise rather say shockin" or "a sorry" expression on his face while goin back to pavilion and we will loose for sure (100% expect no miracles here).

Captain’s statement "boys played well, but pitch is bad or bowlers are bowling fast or dhoni has missed his afternoon glass of milk and ofcourse our hero missed his "sixer" buscuit." ,….. LOSERS!!!!

   2) If  it’s  a  booku (Telugu ppl know abt this word…. read useless or shit)  match… sehwag will make a great score or a least (DUCK). Can’t predict him actually its 50-50. Sachin rises as master blaster onto the adversary. DADA routine defence like a old man (Slow and steady wins the race. F**k you loser). Dravid the wall. Performance will be great from the team.

Captain’s statement "boys really played great.. we have a great batting line up, we do ads and we also make matches, and yes we will bring world cup (You brought us us sry ASS)"……

Indian Cricket Team :::: A bunch of losers who took billion people’s hopes with them and brought nothing but their stupid  pale faces.

They ain’t MIB’s, WE (Rest of the INDIANs) are. We are the "men in ‘BLUE’ (sad)".

Orkut’s “Today’s Fortune”.

On your profile’s home page in Orkut, there’s a column titled "Today’s Fortune". Well, these days I started believing in it, Coz, they are happening in real.

The other day, I had this in that column "Your luck is going to change completely today". I received an e-mail from the person who took my interview and I thought it would make my day. I opened it and it went like this

" Dear Prasanth Kani Kicherla,

We decided to offer the internship to ……."

Thoughts in my mind

" YOU !!!! I know that., I am the great…ha ha ha….  Yeah !! I did it. GERMANY GERMANY GERMANY GERMANY .Orkut’s today’s fortune is really true. God I have to get the visa, I got to goto Delhi….." etc.,etc.,

and then I gone through the rest which was

" one of our other applicants who have stronger background than you in Machine Translation."

and then my thoughts were .,

"……….!!!! ?????****###!><!@$#%$ ^%%^# ……………." nothing.

After an hour another e-mail has come from another university mentioning somewhat similar news. Untill that day, I was with atleast, say, some may-be-fruitful offers. In an hour everything changed, I was again at the same place where I was in January, when I started applying for intern.

Day-b4-sterday’s Fortune was "You are going to have a thrilling time." I thought "how come ??". I was bored like hell. I woke up at 2PM had some lunch and I was feelin nausea, my body’s aching. I had nothing to watch on the PC. It was like another routine boring day of my life.

I went to see whether my mentor was there in her room or not. She was there and we discussed about my project for like say 2 hrs and finalised all the modules to complete it. After 2 months, that was the day where me and she had agreed about one method and a way to implement it.

Then later that evening, we (me and one of my friends) decided to go out to dine. The moment we got down in CL, it started pouring heavily (Yeah !! in allahabad march is the month with full of rain, GOD!! save this place). We got only 90 min to get to a restaurent, get a table, give an order and then to dine. We waited for 30 minutes in the ATM and its still raining. We decided to run. We ran like hell on the street and people stared at us in shock, thinking "are they nuts ??".

By the time we reached the restaurent (it was a bar too) we were drenched completely. We decided to soak a little in beer too. Beer, great food and climate, Cricket worldcup’s first match on the TV, what more do we need. We got drenched again when we came out of B&R to catch our last bus, no effect of the beer at all. Stupid rain !!. :(

And yessss, I had a thrilling time that evening. So start believing in "Orkut’s Today’s fortune" folks.

One hell of a week.

Yet another boring week. The only fun moment was the daaro party with sub-jnrs. Even that, I couldn’t enjoy b’coz of my interview which was on the next day. Who am I to complaint anyway? Never applied for an intern, so, I have to stay at college.

Even the "holi" day was kinda boring, better say, worst day ever. Except the part where we(me and my roomie) were thrown into  mud. Rest of the day was just a void. On the "holi" day and the next two days, we experienced the word "starve". Worst food, no tea in the evening, no shops were opend, no people to talk to. Guards didn’t allow me to get inside the campus. Net was down. It just felt like GOD has suddenly for-saken us.

The next day was a festival too, here. Shops were closed around the place. The only place where we could FIND food was our own fu**in mess. Even to have a thought like that used to kill me. But I made it, through that situation. Hmmm., one hell of a week. Juniors started to appear again in the college, today. Holiday season’s over :) .

A notable thing this week was my interview with an university for summer internship. It’s very funny though. The task they proposed me was on JAVA swings and statistics, probability. The night b4 the interview I couldn’t slept b’coz I am very poor in stats and prob ‘ty… I started referring as many sites as possible  for stats and by-heart’ed all the formulae.

At 1530 next day, I was all set to go. I kept Java swings chapter and a book on data structures and some statistics related material on the bed, beside the phone. The task and its related data, on the computer, opened. Waited for the call. At 1545, she called. God!! that 15 minutes went like 15 days. Anyway, in the interview she asked me about my college, the course, my intentions and purpose for my application, whether I am comfortable in JAVA or not etc., no technical questions at all.

After the interview, looking at those books and the computer just made me smile. A night out for statistics …, hmmm.., I was just relieved. Statistics and probability proved to be a pain in the a**, to complete in one night.

Anyway, some movies helped me, elude my boredom. Tomb raider 2, Killing me softly, Griffin and pheonix, May, Devadas(Tel), Stuck on You were some of them. Well, "Griffin and pheonix" is purely GAY (its like "the notebook" ) . "Stuck on You" and "Just my luck" made me laugh. "Tomb raider 2" and "Dead or alive" I felt like I was watchin some movie. Anjelina Jolie, holly valance just rocked. "Killing me softly" was the movie where heather graham couldn’t keep her clothes on. But, it was a good thriller, though.
The Best movie was "THE ILLUSIONIST". Loved it.

One hell of a week. Ciao.
