P.S: When you rent a car check then and there whether the GPS system is working or not. You are not some genius like me, to drive all the way to Montreal with out GPS from Toronto. That damn thing didn’t work at all, on the way to Montreal:((.
Montreal :
Toronto to Montreal is a 5hr drive, including a break at Tim Horton’s, near Kingston. Started at 4′ish [’ish - stands for "around/like" in Canada] in the morning and reached around 9′ish. Met my friends and had some Coffee and began the day.
Destination was Olympic Tower, Bio Dome and Botanical Gardens [Yes!! You guessed right, I never even had the thought of getting into Botanical Gardens].
BioDome was awesome. Its a completely closed structure. From outside, its just a regular building with different structure, but inside an amazing little world awaits you, with beautiful creatures and plants (everything inside that small building [Should I say, little world ??]). It was amazing. After entering the biodome, it felt like, I was in a beautiful valley filled with many wonders of the mother nature [best part no pollution]. It was no more just a building full of birds or plants for me. Its worth a ton, to visit.
Olympic Tower, well know for its stylish structure. It was good. But the Panoramic view of Montreal from the top was simply beautiful. I felt for one second, to settle down in Montreal forever. The city was built, well planned.
From there we moved to Old City. There we saw Nostradamus church and then we roamed around the old city. I felt like I was roaming in Europe again. After a while we found ourselves in a garden with a panoramic view of the young and growing city. We had a photo session there, then, we went back into the old city for a bite. Back to Tim-Hortons [same medium sized French-Vanilla and a Roasted cheese bagel, I don’t know!!, am not vexed with this order, yet.]. Then we moved towards the lake side, it was freezing like hell, -5C was not bearable with my long coat and a muffler. But, it was worth.
We then, drove to a mountain top to see the beautiful Montreal in the maroon light of setting sun. Well, we missed that by 5 min, may be, but Montreal in night with its own sources of light, was not bad either.. ha ha .. well it was great. But we missed the other part. Actually, from that mountain top we can see Montreal in 360 deg. But we didn’t find that spot. You can try to go there and find the other spot.
On the way back to my friend’s place, met some acquaintances, bid my adieu and went for dinner at an Indian restaurant. Prakash was planning for the Quebec City Iteninary, while we retired for bed.
Quebec City :
Woke up at 6 AM in the morning, that was the first and the last time, I woke up so early in the morning. Temp was -5C. We got ready and left for Tim-Hortons [Yes !! You guess right, its the same order again ! ]. First we got the GPS thing right, ultimately it worked
. Its a three hour drive, its good that my friend took the job of driving for the rest of the day. I had a small nap on the way. Quebec is a very beautiful place. We reached Quebec by 12ish.
Destination was the water falls. It was awesome. I climbed up to the falls and climbed down to the bottom of the falls, where everything was frozen. The water was very cold. It was fun climbing down, but really a pain in the a** while climbing up. There were around 300 steps, of which, last 100 were covered with ice. It was slippery and very tough to maintain our balance, but it was worth going down to the bottom.
Then we went to subway for lunch. P.S In Quebec City mostly, they speak only French. Not even single person there in subway understood us. In the end, we got what we wanted by pointing our fingures at the menu, like kids pointing at a burger, when her/his parents asked for what she/he want to eat. Never even think of trying to drink PEPSI ZERO or DIET PEPSI, am not sure which one was it, but it was horrible.
We then went to the Ferry place, where ferries transport people from Quebec City to the Island next to it, every ten minutes. Just in front of that place is the old city and some nice panoramic view points etc., We went to the old city to see a church and some building, completely painted with a scene from a market place. It was nice, I saw something painted like that on the whole building. We moved to the scenic points. Quebec City and the river looked so fabulous, during sun set. We then walked around the old streets of the Petit Champlain in Quebec City. We walked further to see the beautiful Frontenac Chateau. We also enjoyed the ferry to Lévis for beautiful views of the Chateau Frontenac and the Lower Old Town. We got some awesome pictures of the Quebec City at night.
We said good bye to such a wonderful place, having a thought, to come back and visit again. Mahesh took us back to Montreal and then after a small chat, me and Pankaj left for Toronto [5-30 Hrs with one break after Kingston at Mc. Donald’s] and reached at 1AM. Dropped him at Holiday Inn and myself at Del Suites, Scarborough, Toronto.
P.S A three day trip to Montreal and Quebec City will be Awesome and worth. Well, do post me if you are planning to visit there
, I have some tips to help.

So, back then, when we reached the station we found out that all trains were redirected to Dundi Jn. and no train is coming to Pune from Mumbai. Because of the heavy pouring on the saturday and sunday, some rail tracks went missing in the floods. Our train to Hyderabad has to come from Mumbai. Several thoughts just flew into my mind, bus, train, flight or stay back in Pune and then travel some other fine day.
Anyway, luck [is it ?] appeared in front of us in the form of station-master, he guided us saying that, a train is about to leave for Dundi in 10 min, take it and you can catch your train at Dundi. Awesome, we thought and looked for the fourth person, [TT, Pramod, venkat and me], Mr. Venkat, he has to arrive yet. We ran all the way to that flatform like mad dogs, we waited and waited, yet the fourth didn’t arrive. Train was about to leave, some friends came by to say bye-bye. We helped some other losers to get in to this train, explaining them why they need to do that.
Finally, just before departure Mr. Venkat has reached the station with a pale-face, questioning, what the hell is happening here. It took us around 15 minutes to explain my dearest friend about our luck. He was all excited, mentioning the fact that he has never had any adventurous trip in his life. I don’t know how he guessed that it was going to be adventurous. Anyway, after stopping 3 times before reaching Dundi, it took us around 2 hrs to reach there. We made some jokes and tried to catch up with everyones life and whats our future and all
.
Dundi, its a small village. We expected our train to come in two or three hours, but surprisingly the station master there suggested its going to come in 6 hrs. So, that would be around 2AM in the morning. We thought it would fun to stay over here and we started to roam in pairs, the entire station. We scanned the station completely for chicks and moongfali [groundnuts]. Trust me, it didnt take much time for us to find groundnuts and for chicks, dont even ask !!.
Then when pramod and venkat patrolled the station they found that they have some more friends who are also stuck the same way… [losers !!] for the same train. I have started reading FRIDA, which TT gave me after begging for a while. Its a disgusting book which made no sense or what ever. [May be this review is biased with my frustration about our luck], he talks about this crappy forest, bridge blah blah .. They both brought us some food. Venkat has not changed a single bit and his love for chicken is still has the same intensity. He brought some chicken, I forgot what kind, but it was tasty.
Then me and Tejaswi went to get some ciggies. It was around 10PM and the whole village was literally closed. We went like 2kms all the way and found a bar where they dont sell ciggies [What kind of a loser bar doesnt sell ciggies !!! seriously!]. After some searching, we found a small Pawn [kiosk] shop where we finally found some ciggies. TTs face glowed with a feeling of achievement. What a loser !!
. Then we went back just to hear aweful thing that the train is delayed indefinitely. No one has no information about the train.
After losing a lot of patience and after completely worn out I retired for bed, ohh sorry, there was no bed, I retired on the station floor, covered it with papers. 40 pages on FRIDA was completed, then I shifted to the GOD FATHER and then I felt bored of it and started reading a magazine. I informed about this awesome trip to my bro-in-law and to my parents. After sleeping for a while, Venkat woke me up for my turn for watching the luggage. Suddenly there was one train in front of us, which was leaving for Banglore. Many thoughts were discussed among us, for figuring out the right direction of this train to board it. But, we neglected the thought since, we have to again sleep on the train floor and we exactly dont know whether its going to goto hyd or not.
In the morning around 6 AM they have announced that the train is going to arrive at 8 AM. All the frustrations and anger on Railways suddenly, disappeared. Since, it was a small village it was tough for us to find a place for us to perform our natural activities in the morning. I have to stand in a queue literally for an hour and half [the longest waiting time in my life, felt like 6 hrs]. Once we are done, we refreshed ourselves and had some coffee and all. Anyway, the train has arrived at 10 AM, another round of irritations and swearings at railways has taken place before its awesome arrival [ for 2 more hrs of waiting].
So the total waiting time at that station was 16 hrs. After reaching outskirts of the Hyderabad we came to know that a Goods train was derailed on the way out of Hyderabad. Awesome luck !! I thought, Can it get any better !!. Pramod and Venkat got down at that station and they took a bus to home. Me and Tejaswi talked about his achivements in Israel [The genuinity of what he said is still debatable]. Then at a whim I decided to get down at Secunderbad station and take a bus to my home town.
At around 9-30 PM, I got down and bid my farewel to TT and conveyed him my regards for his MS and other endeavours to come ahead. I took a local bus to reach the Jubilee bus station. It took around 30 min. I bought myself some stuff to eat and drink and reserved my seat for Mancherial. Looking at that ticket made me feel like a kid who just opened his christmas gift. After 6 hrs of awesome night bus journey and 15 minutes of walking, finally I reached my sweet home. The most comforting moment. My parents were happy to see me and their sympathetic and sarcastic [mixed] looks made me realise that we always have to hear to what elders say. [They suggested me not to go with this plans since the weather conditions are not fine].
TT has waited for 3 more hrs in Hyd station and then travelled for another 14 hrs on the same train to reach his home town. After a month he went to US and now has successfully completed his first term at STAN. He recently has a trip to LA.
Venkat as usually continued his love for chicken and his lady love. Has partied in B’lore for the new years. And this trip is still a confidential matter at his home. Its still a secret
Pramod went back to home and he had a nice christmas 08 and he was looking forward to get married this year.
Yours truely, has flied back to Cyprus and then to Canada for a three month trip. He never went to Tirupati that year. He is presently in Cyprus, living the same bored life.
