What’s new with me ?

Am back in Toronto for a month & a half, only 9 more days to go.

This time I got not much of time to go around places, well, anyway nothing much left to go around here. I spent one whole afternoon in Dave & Buster’s, Vaughan. It was awesome, may be the first time I spent money with not putting much thought into it. For 50 bucks, it was good entertainment.

Got close with many people here, made some cool friends. Now I can say confidently that I have some cool friends in Canada :) .

Past five weeks were pretty busy, just couldn’t make it anywhere. At last, took two days off and got some peace.

Watched some quite good movies, friends here suggested some really cool movies, watched at their home. Gran Torino, The great debaters, Lake view Terrace and Knowing. Knowing was great to watch in the theater [If you saw the trailer, forget about watching it]. Doomsday was left, well, I got one more week to go. Planning to go a musical this week, lets see.

Last Friday was great, went to the Knowing and then roamed around in Downtown Toronto around 11ish PM to find "Last house on the Left", well, seems like they don’t screen at that hour. Then went to a restaurent/bar NEXT 7 on Yonge St. It was cozy and nice. May be I am bragging a bit more, but, it felt like HIMYM bar with 4 friends, 5th one will join soon :P .

On a final note, this time Toronto trip is way AWESOME than the last time and yeah am learning a lot about my work ;) .

ciao.

Rab ne banaya di Jodi !!

Hello, Punjab Power, Lighting up your life ji !! emoticon [U gotto see the movie for this]

Well, Rab ne banaya Di jodi, is a fantabulous movie, to say the least. For the first time, I liked, no wait, I loved Shah Rukh in a movie and of course I loved the movie too. May be I enjoyed this movies so much, I have no knowledge about the movie before I watched, I mean the star-cast, I dont know its King Khans movie, also review etc.,

The movie starts with a tragic story but, then falls into very smooth and original comedy, with in the story itself, {I mean, no third person as comedian and not with a completely separate track from story line, for comedy}, which is a rare thing to find in any known recent flicks. I was so impressed by the way they presented it. Every comedy scene was dealt with such a perfection, its really amazing. It was handled with so ease. They are just classic jokes with no double meaning dialogues or no rude sarcasm or no criticizing, its more like old time Jandhyala movies in Telugu. The comedy was so natural that the audience reacted so great in the theater [where I watched it, Cineplex Odeon - Yonge-Sheppard, Toronto]. I for the first time felt like, that the whole theater full of people, of all kinds, ages, enjoyed the funny scenes.

Shah Rukh was great as both an ultra - modern [country-side modern :P ] hep[Raj] and a simple, sweet introvert person[Suri]. He dealt with both these characters with so ease, of course, he has to, he is fkin King Khan for Gods sake. After, Chek De, this movie tops his performance, in recent years. He is so hilarious, in the scenes esp, in Suri’s Role.

Anushka a new actor though, performed very well beside the King Khan, with such an ease. She acted [shd I say lived in the movie, too much hunh ??] as a beautiful, country side Wanna-be-urban-posh girl. The on-screen chemistry is what I liked the most between the two lead roles. Of course, Shah Rukh has out ran her in every scene, but for a newbie, still a good performance. For heroine lovers, she is cute and homely and certainly you wont find her hot, because of the role she played. She is 24 and definitely doesnt look 30, as my colleagues described. [I cant believe one of them thinks she is not good beside shah rukh in the movie, I mean just, HOW RUDE !!]

You gotto watch this movie twice, go to your local screening today, ok! may be I am demanding too much, atleast watch it this week end, its always, better late than never. To Genre freaks, I catogorize it as Romantic-Comedy, but, it got the sentimental touch that we Indians want, of course :) and I give 4.75/5

This movie has created a wonderful memory for me, in a theater :) .

Note : This is not a review for the movie, its just what I felt.

Note 2: It topped my top hindi romantic-comedy list beating Jab-we-met.

Note 3: Enlighten your family’s evening with this wonderful movie.

Bye… oops, wait you always have to say,

hum hain raahi pyaar ke…phir milenge….chalte chalte

JAB - WE - MET…..

YOOOO !! emoticon

Well am having a lot of fun these days… We are playin a skit for deewali party which will happen on 18th of this month. Beer festival last week, a friends BD parties…. well Best weekends so far… and ofcourse a simple yet superb Deewali ..

Hmmm, anyway am here to say something about this one, lovely movie… "JAB WE MET". Though, the movie has been inspired [really ?? emoticon] by an English movie "Forces of Nature", the director has managed to Indianize it…

Kareena gave her best performance, so far. Well, some hates her role in the film, coz shes loud during the first half. But thats how the role is…  Shahid kapoor on the other end was great too. Well suited for the character of a young business magnet. They both acted so natural that viewers will be drawn into their world very soon.

Directors choice of the cast is just awesome…all the characters looked so natural, their performance their look, everything. The message that kareena’s character [GEET] portrays is just awesome.. its more like "love yourself and let the world fall for you."

The story doesn’t need any songs actually.. but the director has managed them so aptly that you nvr feel bored watching the songs..  after all, SONGS are a part of the INDIAN cinema.. emoticon.

Picturization was too good esp., shimla parts… For the first time, I found some thing new in the choreography too.. A blend of western steps with Classic Indian and great punjabi steps. Music was apt. No excessive noise in the background through out the movie.. Very pleasant.

The second half last parts were more like that of a typical south indian love story in which sentiment should be expected. Remember, not some boring sentiment.

On a whole, you can add this movie to the all time best romance movies in bollywood.

Movie is worth watching. 4/5. So, friends I suggest you to watch this movie during weekends to kill time, with some fun.

One hell of a week.

Yet another boring week. The only fun moment was the daaro party with sub-jnrs. Even that, I couldn’t enjoy b’coz of my interview which was on the next day. Who am I to complaint anyway? Never applied for an intern, so, I have to stay at college.

Even the "holi" day was kinda boring, better say, worst day ever. Except the part where we(me and my roomie) were thrown into  mud. Rest of the day was just a void. On the "holi" day and the next two days, we experienced the word "starve". Worst food, no tea in the evening, no shops were opend, no people to talk to. Guards didn’t allow me to get inside the campus. Net was down. It just felt like GOD has suddenly for-saken us.

The next day was a festival too, here. Shops were closed around the place. The only place where we could FIND food was our own fu**in mess. Even to have a thought like that used to kill me. But I made it, through that situation. Hmmm., one hell of a week. Juniors started to appear again in the college, today. Holiday season’s over :) .

A notable thing this week was my interview with an university for summer internship. It’s very funny though. The task they proposed me was on JAVA swings and statistics, probability. The night b4 the interview I couldn’t slept b’coz I am very poor in stats and prob ‘ty… I started referring as many sites as possible  for stats and by-heart’ed all the formulae.

At 1530 next day, I was all set to go. I kept Java swings chapter and a book on data structures and some statistics related material on the bed, beside the phone. The task and its related data, on the computer, opened. Waited for the call. At 1545, she called. God!! that 15 minutes went like 15 days. Anyway, in the interview she asked me about my college, the course, my intentions and purpose for my application, whether I am comfortable in JAVA or not etc., no technical questions at all.

After the interview, looking at those books and the computer just made me smile. A night out for statistics …, hmmm.., I was just relieved. Statistics and probability proved to be a pain in the a**, to complete in one night.

Anyway, some movies helped me, elude my boredom. Tomb raider 2, Killing me softly, Griffin and pheonix, May, Devadas(Tel), Stuck on You were some of them. Well, "Griffin and pheonix" is purely GAY (its like "the notebook" ) . "Stuck on You" and "Just my luck" made me laugh. "Tomb raider 2" and "Dead or alive" I felt like I was watchin some movie. Anjelina Jolie, holly valance just rocked. "Killing me softly" was the movie where heather graham couldn’t keep her clothes on. But, it was a good thriller, though.
The Best movie was "THE ILLUSIONIST". Loved it.

One hell of a week. Ciao.

Accepted.

P.S: Contains spoilers.

The Best movie I have watched this week. The starcast is not so popular yet they did a wonderful job.

Well it’s not about the stars, it’s about the idea. This is what happens in the movie.. Hero gets rejected by all the universities, from getting in, where he has applied for. Many of his friends will get into their dream universities. At the school graduation party, his parents will be embarrassed in front of his friend’s parents because of him not getting into any university.

He don’t know what to do. So he creates a fake University  names it "South Hamton Institute of technology(SHIT)". His friends who didn’t get into any university will join his SHIT university. Soon, the fake University comes into existence because of many reasons which is the interesting part in the movie.

Anyway, its not about the story line as I said. Since he doesn’t know what to do in his University, he allows everyone to do what ever interests them. Like, say, one is interested in cooking he assists him by constructin him a kitchen and some are interested in rock band, some in telekinesis etc etc… He even makes that as the curriculum of SHIT University.

How about the idea in the above paragraph ?? Where in the University you never have an exam, there’s no need to follow a particular curriculum (which is very useful b’coz i hate SMS and CCS [Control Systems] yet I have to take them b’coz of our freaking (Dean’s) curriculum) and you can have your own curriculum and interests. Best part no boring lectures (in my bachelors I used them as my sleeping hours emoticon).

Hero’s point of view is like this, he asks why we have to follow the traditional curriculum which just occuludes our creativity ?? Why we have to study subjects that doesn’t interest us and why we have to prove ourselves worth in those subjects ??. We know that we are not good at them and finally why we should get rejected for not proving our worth in such stupid subjects which  never in our lives has interested us in the first place??

Well I agree with him. Why I have to take control systems and systems modelling classes and get a ‘C’ ??? Instead why can’t I take a course in web designin or advanced OS classes and get a ‘A’?? and for GOD sake!! why I have to listen to those boring Economics and Management classes ?? If this type of university ever exists, I will be the first person to join.

Who can say that I ain’t worth after working for four years on my favourite subject ??  Do you think that this ain’t gonna work ?? I don’t think so. Suppose, say, am interested in Networks. Do you think studying & researching on it for 4 years can’t make me a PRO ?? Well we all know the answer to this question.

Anyway for the same thoughts in the climax the SHITHEADs (students of SHIT University) gets a probation of one year, for creditation as an US Univeristy, to try their new approach for Education. Well thats the best appreciation for the idea.

A great movie with a great actress too emoticon. I give 9/10.

Note:: SHITHEADs have their own mess and rooms designed by themselves.  Thats AWESOME too. Hero will have disco lights and a personal bar in his room… well, thats the part where he impresses his girl.

GOD !! Why I have to eat my mess food, where I can get A-class quality food for the same fare ?

Anyway Happy Watching.

-Peace Out.

The Ant Bully.

Anyone who enjoyed "A Bug’s Life" should enjoy this heartwarming and pretty funny movie. This movie has a very reliable voice cast including Meryl Streep, Nicholas Cage, Julia Roberts, Bruce Campbell, Regina King. The taking’s very good and screenplay is just awesome. I like the way they presented the story.  They perfectly handled both the view’s (an ants view and normal human view).

The message was simple and straightforward. It is your basic good vs. evil. I had really good laughs, enjoyed watching this one.The landscapes they came up with could keep you entertained all by themselves. Graphics are just superb.

   Entertainment "Guaranteed".  I give 8/10.

Hot Shots.

This movie ia a parody for "Top Gun". Charlie sheen gave a truly hilarious performance as Topper-harley.

I think you’ll enjoy the movie more, if u hain’t watched topgun. Because, you can enjoy the scenes as they are.

Most of the time they made fun of Top Gun, but movies like Superman, Dances with Wolves, Gone with the Wind… can be recognized in it as well. Just like Top Gun the romance aspect isn’t as funny as the other bits but even then it is still good. The sequences whr charlie escapes boogies are very funny in the climax. It has enough great dialogue and funny spoofs to be consistently funny even after repeat viewings.

Surely, this movie deserves a place with "The naked gun".

I give 8.5/10.
